What began
Juntendo University announced that a multicenter, placebo-controlled, double-blind randomized study of antibiotic-preconditioned fecal microbiota transplantation (A-FMT) for active ulcerative colitis began on 8 September 2026 at 10 institutions.
Prior result
The 2023–2025 Advanced Medical Care B study reported a 45.9% remission-induction rate and met its primary endpoint. The new study shortens antibiotic pretreatment from two weeks to five days and compares efficacy and safety.
Evidence status
This is specified clinical research, not approved standard care. The 45.9% result cannot be generalized to every patient, and eligibility is assessed by study sites.
International-patient limits
Public materials do not establish overseas-patient acceptance, interpreting, cost or residency requirements. Enrollment cannot be promised; jRCT and official site contacts must be checked.
